Industrial Commission: Part II
The motion to get rid of the Industrial Commission was moved
off the table at the recent commission meeting and passed on first reading by a
vote of 4-1. Thank you to Commissioner Udalovas for standing up and voting
against this ordinance. Why would the Commissioners want to abolish a volunteer
group that are active, knowledgeable, and making a difference in the city? The Industrial Commission does not and cannot
spend any of the City’s money. In the past the Industrial Commission coexisted
with MURC led by Don Ayres and the nonprofit organizations led by the Kim Ayres.
Murc and the nonprofits are the expensive behind closed doors economic
development arms of the City. What has changed? The only possible explanation
is that four members of this commission (Santiago, Parent, Pepitone, and
Cooper) do not want the public to know what is going on in the city.
