WHO WILL FILL QUINN'S VACANT SEAT?

Now that Quinn has resigned for the second time, what happens to his empty seat? The commission has the option to appoint someone until the next election which is November 2022. Who do the new commissioners think that person should be? The last time Quinn resigned, Commissioner Sooy held fast to the belief that the person who came in 6th in the election should fill the seat. This time the 6th place person is Robert McQuade.  This is the only fair  scenario as the present commission has not even been sworn in yet. Hopefully Commissioner Sooy and the new commissioners will agree that Mr. McQuade should be appointed. Robert Mcquade put the time in to run for the office. The voters had enough faith in Mr. McQuade that he came in 6th with over 2000 votes. It seems fair that he takes the seat.  In November 2022 anyone can run for this open seat and then the voters will decide who the commissioner will be for the remaining three years.   Comment and post who you believe should fill the open s

*****BREAKING NEWS******

There is breaking news so important that the blog had to come out of retirement.           JIM QUINN HAS RESIGNED!!!!!   Yes, that is correct. Mr. Quinn has resigned his commission seat before he was even sworn in! It might be the first time in the history of Millville that an elected commissioner has given up his seat before he was even sworn in. This is not the first time that Mr. Quinn has resigned his commission seat. He previously abandoned Millville to become a County commissioner.  Mr. Quinn stated he resigned due to his "intention to concentrate on family and business matters".   But is that really the reason? Knowing Mr. Quinn the more logical reason is he will not be mayor this time and no one on his team was elected with him.  Mr. Quinn has let the citizens of Millville down who voted for him. Those who voted for Mr. Quinn should be mad. He stole their votes.  He was obviously not running to make Millville better.  He ran to  make sure the same individuals were in

A New Commission is Elected!

VOTE NOVEMBER 2nd!

On November 2nd it will be time to vote for a new commission. The past four years has been plagued with wasteful spending and poor leadership. The citizens of Millville deserve a change! The only way for change to occur is to have a large turnout to vote. Your vote does make a difference. When you vote on Tuesday, think about how the last 4 years have been. Is Millville in a better place than it was 4 years ago?  Team Quinn ran a campaign where they did not tell the public what they were going to do if elected. They did not attend the town meeting and refused to debate the other candidates. They are assuming that the public will vote for them without knowing any facts. This is an insult to the voters of Millville. Quinn, Cooper, Pepitone, Bowleg, and Perez do not deserve your vote. It is time to move Millville forward before it is too late. Millville needs new leadership and a new direction. Vote for to change the downhill direction that Millville is moving. Vote for Sooy, Hewitt, McQ

Team Quinn No Show at Town Meeting

A group of citizens realized the importance for the public to see all the candidates in one venue and organized a town meeting. We thank them. All the candidates were invited. The meeting was open to the public. The town meeting can be viewed at:  https://www.facebook.com/angel.jewels/videos/563992294708952 None of Team Quinn showed. They stated they had another town meeting at the Millville Motorsports Park however this was private event. When asked, the Motorsports Park said there was no meeting.  Team Quinn lied. Team Quinn was obviously afraid to attend. They have no platform. Quinn, Cooper and Pepitone cannot defend their records. This speaks volumes as to how they are going to act if elected. You will not be able to trust them. They will not be open and transparent with the public. They will not answer your questions. On a positive note the other candidates spoke for 3 hours. They answered any and all questions that the public asked online and in person. Watch the town hall on Fa

Team Quinn's Dirty Partisan Politics

The negative ads have started. Instead of talking about their action plan for Millville, Team Quinn has resorted to skewing the facts against opposing candidate, Joe Sooy. Joe Sooy is one of the few candidates that has a plan to improve Millville and proved that he can when he was a commissioner. Of course Team Quinn will say they are not behind the ads but don't believe them. Remember the negative ad campaign that Cooper and Pepitone used to get elected 4 years ago? Cooper and Pepitone denied that they knew about the ads but that was not the truth. Cooper and Pepitone appointed the individuals behind the ads to high paying positions in the city as a payback. As a matter of fact the same individuals have again backed Cooper and Pepitone. Do not let history repeat itself.  Don't let partisan politics continue to ruin Millville.  Ignore the negative ads. Listen to the candidates. Team Quinn have said nothing about what they are going to do if elected in the next 4 years. They wil

Commissioner Udalovas' Election Advice

At the January 19, 2021 Commission meeting, Commissioner Udalovas made several comments about her fellow commissioners. Commissioner Udalovas has worked with Cooper and Pepitone for 4 years She knows how they act behind the scenes. She knows their work ethinc, thinking and motivation not the show that they put on for the public. These statements were made when Pepitone and Cooper were trying to oust Judge Witcher. (Read previous blog  Is Judge Witcher Safe and  JUDGE WITCHER SAGA UPDATE AND THE PEPITONE - UDALOVAS FEUD)                                                 “Commissioners, it has been 3 years. There is no reason to be unprepared or to not be aware of the process. If we                        have not learned that there is due process for each function in local government by the third year of service, it is                          clear by the beginning of the fourth year that it cannot be learned or will not be learned, and all due to a lack of

COMMISSION CANDIDATES: PART II

There are 10 candidates for this year's city commission election. A blog has been written regarding 3 candidates from Team Quinn namely Quinn, Pepitone, and Cooper. (Are Quinn, Pepitone, and Cooper Good for Millville). How about the other 7 candidates? Kuan Bowleg and Ivelise Perez are part of Team Quinn. They have not talked about their plans and goals for Millville. What will their focus be as commissioners? How do you vote for someone without knowing what they are going to do? Do they even have a plan? Robert McQuade, Jr. is presently on the Millville School Board. He also has not spoken about his plans and goals for Millville. However he does seem to have the best interest of Millville at heart as he has been helping to clean up the city of Millville for years.  Benjamin Romanik has not spoken about his plans and goals for Millville and there is no information about him. A vote for Mr. Romanik would be voting for the complete unknown.  Charles Kirk Hewitt has been a regular at

WILL THE MILLVILLE CITY COMMISSION CANDIDATES DEBATE THIS YEAR?

As of right now the answer is NO, there will not be a debate. City commission candidates Joe Sooy, Kirk Hewitt, and Lisa Orndorf are the only candidates that have stated they want to debate. They even found an independent organization to host the debate. When Team Quinn was asked by the organization to participate, Team Quinn responded NO. Since Team Quinn would not participate, the debate has been cancelled. It was deemed unfair to hold a debate if all the candidates did not participate. Thank you to the organization that tried. Thank you for seeing the need for the debate and trying to provide an unbiased venue. Shame on you, Team Quinn for saying no! Historically there has always been a debate between the candidates. What is Team Quinn afraid of? Is it the fact that Team Quinn is running without a platform? Are they afraid of the other candidates?  The election is right around the corner. The fact that Team Quinn will not debate the other candidates shows their lack of transparency

Are Quinn, Pepitone, and Cooper Good for Millville?

What do you do when you start to lose faith in the entire system. Do you sit back and do nothing or do you try to fix it? Trying to fix it can be as simple as voting. At times it is hard to believe things will change but you cannot give up. This election in November for the Millville City Commission will determine Millville's future. Will the down-hill spiral started by Team Santiago continue or will it be stopped? It will depend on who is elected. It is important that the voters of Millville vote in this election. Look at the candidates. Vote for who will work for Millville. Ask them what they intend to do. Question their answers. You can tell who is telling you the truth versus what you want to hear. Look at their track record. Quinn, Pepitone, and Cooper are running as a team. Would they be good for Millville?            Jim Quinn is a career politician. Mr. Quinn stated that he was a city commissioner  for over 18 years!!! During his last time as commissioner, he left in the mi

Politics in Millville as Usual

You can tell it is election season. Money is already rolling into the campaigns of certain connected politicians. All this informatin is available on line but here is the summary for some of the commission candidates: Jim Quinn has been a lifelong politician. He was elected to the city commission in 2014 and left in the middle of his term for a county Freeholder post. During his time as county freeholder, Mr. Quinn forgot about Millville. Vineland received all his attention. Maybe that is why, Mr. Quinn just received a loan in the amount of $100,000 from Vineland. Now Mr. Quinn wants to come back to Millville and save High Street. Could part of his motivation be that he owns a business on High Street? A look at who is donating to Mr. Quinn is interesting. Most of the companies are from out of town and many are the contractors hired by Team Santiago such as Pennoni. They must want to make sure that they get their contracts renewed! Mr. Quinn's expenditures show over $12,000 for f

Millville Mayor Found GUILTY of Ethics Violations

The Mayor of the City of Millville, Michael Santiago has been found guilty of ethics violations in using his official position to secure privileges for others. The question remains what else has Mr. Santiago done?

Your Tax Dollars and the CCIA

The CCIA has been trying to sell the old bank on the corner of High and Main. Do you remember when just a few months ago the CCIA was going to sell the city this building for 2 million dollars? Mr. Pepitone thought it was a great idea and fought to make it happen. Luckily the citizens of Millville spoke up and the sale did not go through. Now, according to a Daily Journal article, the price is $500,000 for a new buyer. Remember at election time that Mr. Pepitone thinks a good deal for Millville is blindly paying 4x what a property is worth!  The $500,000 sale is set up as a lease purchase. No taxes will be paid for the property to Millville. Instead the CCIA will pay in lieu of taxes only $625/month. The taxes would cost a citizen of Millville $1500/month! This is how the CCIA does business.  The CCIA is building the Complete Care on the corner of High and Broad. This is a good project in the wrong place. Medical facilities are zoned to be near the old hospital which is where the proje

A 35 Year Tax Abatement for an Affordable Housing Project

Another affordable housing project is coming to town. This one is being discussed in a closed session at the July 20, 2021 commission meeting. So much for transparency! The developers of this project do not want to pay their fair share of taxes. They are requesting a 35 year tax abatement from this commission. Yes, you read it right,  a 35 year tax abatement . That means once again the taxpayers will have to foot the bill for the additional needs of  the fire and police departments, the rescue squad, the schools, and the sewer and water plants. Millville cannot afford this project. Is this one of the "good things to come" promised by this commission? This affordable housing project has not been approved yet. Let the commissioners know that you are not for this 35 year tax abatement project.  Remember the trailer park project on Cedar Street? This project will also not be paying their fair share of the taxes. The city will receive $53.00 per trailer instead of the $345 a hous

Zoning Board to Vote on Mobile Home Park

On July 1, 2021 the Zoning Board will decide if a mobile home park can be built off Cedar Street. This mobile home park will house 322 manufactured homes. (Mobile homes are now called manufactured homes). This is an important decision as presently this area is not zoned for a mobile home park. If approved additional mobile home parks may be built anyplace in town. The zoning board will vote based on the positives vs. the negatives of this development. The developer claims that this mobile home park will be like Liberty Village however there is one very important difference. Liberty Village is a 55 and over community while this mobile home park is open to all ages.  The developer and his attorney will cite as the benefits the need for more housing and the tax revenue. Don't fall for it! The developer and the attorney will state this is affordable housing. But is that true? The city has many abandoned and foreclosed houses that could be purchased. The city also has filled its allotm
