Team Santiago and the NJ Motorsports Park
At the August 20, 2019 Commission meeting Team Santiago will
vote on whether or not to extend the NJ Motorsports Park PILOT to 30 years. The
track pays a PILOT instead of normal property taxes. By having this PILOT the
NJ Motorsports Park pays $175,000 per year instead of the nearly $800,000 they
would pay if taxed like everyone else is. A second ordinance has been added to the agenda for a 25 year PILOT for the NJ Motorsports Park. There is no information attached so it is unknown at this time if this is an additional tax break or not. Team Santiago promised transparency as part of their campaign. Transparency is informing the citizens of Millville what is going on in the city, not leaving out information from the agenda. What is Team Santiago hiding?
Ask Team Santiago why at the August 20th
meeting they are considering the tax breaks for the NJ Motorsports Park. Ask Team Santiago why they
raised everyone else’s property taxes but want to let the racetrack pay a
fraction of what they should be paying. Ask Team Santiago why they are taking
care of an out of town business instead of the residents of Millville. Ask Team Santiago why they are not transparent as promised. Ask
Commissioner Pepitone how he votes for a tax increase for the citizens when he
pays his taxes consistently late or not at all. If the track paid their full taxes then taxes
would not have to be increased, ask Team Santiago if they understand this. Ask Team
Santiago if they know that none of the racetrack’s PILOT goes to the schools.
It is time to stand up for Millville. Team Santiago needs to
know that the citizens of Millville are tired of taking a back seat to everyone
else on Team Santiago’s agenda: out of town lawyers, $2 million dollar
demolitions, higher taxes, and now a tax break for the racetrack. It is time to
let your voices be heard. Tell Team Santiago to stop leaving out information that would tell the citizens what is going on in the city.
